Those damned book lights that are supposed to latch on to your headboard NEVER work. The clips always slip and then the hot bulb is in my lap. I need a coal miner's hat.

Use one of those little l.e.d. head lamp things. They're useful for lots of stuff. Absolutely indispensible for riding bikes in the dark too.

I have an ajustable table lamp on my nite stand so I can turn it so it doesn't disturb my partner but allows me to read comfortably.

Thanks for the tips! I'm hoping to solve the lighting dilemma soon.

I would suggest getting ruby lasers installed in your irises. Then the excitement you feel about the book you're reading will supply the energy. The more excited the book makes you the longer you'll be able to see it.

I was thinking more in terms of having my head retrofitted glow-worm style, but your idea is illuminating, too.
